Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Recycling Coordinator is responsible for the collection of recycling materials; secure document management, proper baling & shipping of materials and distributing recycling containers.  The Recycling Coordinator supports other groups on site and within OSI to ensure that their area is fully aligned with the organizations sustainability goals.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collection of recyclable materials from designated areas throughout the facility and office areas and recycles the materials according to established procedures.
  • Ensure confidentiality of recycled materials from pick-up point through the end of the recycling process.
  • Communicate with factory employees, departments, and recycling company regarding the Geneva recycling program.
  • Oversees daily communication to plant porters and housekeepers on both shifts to drive plant sustainability initiatives.
  • Observe flow of recycled materials; make recommendations number of bins provided and the frequency of pickups, and report issues needing attention their supervisor.
  • Promote the recycling program, encourage and ensure recycling processes are followed throughout the facility.
  • Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates - Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
  • Performing General Physical Activities - Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
  • Training and Teaching Others - Identifying the educational needs of others, developing formal educational or training tool’s (SOP’s), and teaching or instructing others.
  • Making Decisions and Solving Problems - Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • Assist plant management in providing corrective actions from deviations to plant recycling program.
  • Production and Processing - Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Effectively monitors and performs light trouble-shooting on the baling machines and communicates with maintenance involving any mechanical issues.
  • Verifies all corrugate and plastic are baled and loaded properly.
  • Verifies baler area is clean and neat throughout the shift.
  • Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.

Job Requirements

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Forklift experience preferred
  • Ability to operate oversized bailer
  • Able to work in the frozen or refrigerated conditions for short periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Ability to establish & generate reports
  • Ability to work well without direct supervision
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Work mandatory overtime as required
  • Flexibility to switch shifts as required

EXPERIENCE:

  • 2 or more years in food manufacturing
  • Experience in food processing and knowledge of GMP’s.

SKILLS:

  • Excellent communication skills (oral, written and listening).
  • Excellent people skills – maintain a positive attitude.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities at one time
  • Effective organizational skills
  • Computer skills – Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, ppt, etc.)
