Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY               10:00pm – 7:00am 

Assists the Quality Assurance and Research and Development Departments by performing a variety of microbiological and chemical analysis on product samples and environmental swabs.

MAJOR POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

(Essential duties for which this position is responsible.)

  • Log in product samples
  • Prepare samples for shipment to 3rd party lab
  • Prepare food samples for Microbial testing.
  • Test food samples for Aerobic Plate Count, Coliforms, and Generic E. coli
  • Read Aerobic Plate Counts, Coliform Plates, Generic E. Coli Plates, and Yeast and Mold Plates
  • Perform moisture fat and salt analysis procedures using CEM and FOSS analyzers.
  • Test food samples and brine for salt using a Nelson James Chloride Analyzer
  • Interpret and record results of all tests performed.
  • Print Certificates of Analysis from 3rd party labs
  • Enter results in database
  • Inform Lab Supervisor or Assistant Supervisor of all out of compliance results.
  • Maintain clean and sanitary testing environment.
  • Verify sanitation procedures.
  • Print swab schedule for sample 6.
  • Prepare Buffered Peptone and air sampling plates as needed
  • Collect Air, Water, swabs and other environmental samples from production areas assigned by corporate and plant policies
  • and procedures or as assigned by QA Management
  • Assist Lab Supervisor and Assistant Supervisor as needed
  • All duties will be performed as assigned.
  • Work schedules will depend on production schedules and special projects. Work shifts will be as assigned by QA Management.
  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • May require bending, kneeling, squatting, crawling, and reaching to collect samples in production areas
  • May be required to work flexible hours, including weekends.
