POSITION SUMMARY 

Responsible for day to day implementation and oversight of employee safety. Provide oversight to ensure Quality/Food safety programs for each process are followed. Supervise and manage assigned QA staff of Q/A .

MAJOR POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

(Essential duties for which this position is responsible.) 

  • The Quality Assurance Supervisor will oversee all the food safety policies, and procedures for a food processing /packaging operations.
  • Must have ability to maintain a positive, respectful working relationship with all employees within the facility.
  • Teach, aid, council and direct activities for all assigned employees per company policies.
  • Apply and enforce safety and food safety standards, policies, and programs including HACCP, BRC, internal audits, food safety training programs, standard operating procedures (SOP’s), product inspections, and standardization work instructions.
  • Provide training for food safety and quality requirements for employees assigned
  • Work with the QA/ Assistant Manager to conduct facility food safety audits as well as manage third party audits,
  • Develop professional working relationship with FSIS.  
  • Monitor and verify activities to ensure that all products coming in and out of the facility meet food safety standards and within customer specifications and standards
  • Work closely with Operations to address food safety or quality assurance issues
  • Ensure that all company food safety and quality assurance procedures are followed and documented correctly at all times.
  • To be a subject matter expert in raw material specifications and finished product specifications.
  • Responsible for team-level or shift-level QA supervisory duties
  • Strong working knowledge in implementation of HACCP, Quality Systems, GMP & SSOP programs
  • Provide support to QA Department during Pre-op and set up operations.
  • Knowledge of microbiological, Finished Product testing and analytical testing requirements.
  • Coordinate with production teams to ensure quality standards and customer specifications
  • Report non conformances in a timely manner to QA Management.
  • Must possess high level of attention to detail in all aspects of assigned responsibilities. Supervisor will be required to review and verify compliance for numerous records on a daily basis.
  • Perform tasks as assigned by QA Manager.

Job Requirements

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS

Minimum of High School, GED. Minimum of 5 years in Food Production facility. BS in Food Science or related area of study preferred. Must have ability to use computer applications (Microsoft Word, EXCEL. Must be able to maintain data bases and familiar with company operating systems such as SAP.
