Job Description


Responsible for ensuring the normal operation of the department. Communicate with Supervisors, Managers, and all pertinent management personnel on issues that occur on the department. In addition, this individual is responsible for ensuring the area is cleaned, sanitized, and ready for production.


(Essential duties for which this position is responsible.) 

  • Establish the department objectives pertaining to quality, safety, productivity and cost. Continuously evaluate, monitor and challenge the performance standards for the department.
  • Communicate and address issues that arise with Supervisors, the Director of Plant Operations, and other individual managers.
  • Ensure the smooth operations of all departments on the department.
  • Ensure that the sanitation department has materials available.
  • Ensure Supervisors and employees have a single point of contact to address their issues or needs.
  • Report to the Operations manager on any issues that may arise on the department.
  • Provide all reporting supervisors the support and resources in a timely, appropriate manner so that the goals of the department and company can be realized.
  • Develop all reporting supervisors into innovative problem-solvers and members of the Oakland Foods team atmosphere while holding them accountable to department and company objectives.
  • Develop appropriate individuals so that succession plans are available and operational.
  • Provide necessary feedback to the General Manager, so that customer expectations are communicated and achieved.
  • Managing employees for maximum productivity, efficiency and job safety.
  • Control operation cost through the use and application of statistical process control techniques. This includes the monitoring and improving of people use.
  • Comply with all USDA guidelines and regulations including daily monitoring of SSOP.
  • Train, develop, and supervise employees.

Job Requirements


7-10 years experience in the meat industry

College degree or equivalent

Excellent management and communications skills
