Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Administer Human Resource policies and programs in areas of labor and employee relations, compensation, employment, staffing, training, development, benefits and personnel practices.

MAJOR POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Recruit hourly employees to fill the Plant's hourly staffing needs. Identify and manage temporary worker providers and monitor service agreement for compliance.
  • Supervise Safety Supervisor, Security Guards and Housekeeping.
  • Prepare new hire employee paperwork and conduct new employee orientation. A
  • Assist employees and management in matters pertaining to employment policies and practices. Administers employment policies and practices in accordance with established procedures and/or collective bargaining agreement.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements pant related HR policies and procedures that are not already covered by a Corporate Policy or Procedure; prepares and maintains Plant Handbook on policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate annual benefit enrollment process for plant employees, includes form distribution, answer questions, form collection, and data entry of benefit changes.
  • Responds to information requests from corporate HR regarding unemployment claims.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to Plant Management team in matters pertaining to management development issues and acts a communication channel to supervision whenever it is required by political and cultural realities.
  • Support management in the enforcement of work rules and provide guidance in the administration of progressive disciplinary actions, up to and including terminations. 
  • Works closely with the corporate training specialist to support corporate and plant training/ development programs in the identification of needs and the development and delivery of training programs.
  • Coordinates absence management activities such as Family Medical Leave Act, Short and Long Term Disability, Workers Compensation, and applicable state leave regulations, notifying corporate HR to ensure full integration of benefits.
  • Coordinates employee relations events and programs including plant employee picnic, holiday party, service award program, tuition assistance, EAR, scholarship program.

Job Requirements

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and work experience.
