Job Description

Responsible for supervising activities and coordinating programs within the Quality Assurance Department that will lead to the control and continuous improvement of products and processes.

  • Supervise and assist the QA Crew Leader, Group Leader, and Technicians in completing their duties and resolving product and process issues.
  • Coordinate the duties and training of QA members with emphasis on continuous improvement of products, processes, and procedures in a wide range of different areas (e.g. metal detection, xray, internal audits, equipment calibration, thermal processing, allergens, etc.).
  • Assist in the creation, development, implementation, and monitoring of SOP’s, SSOP’s, GMPs, corrective actions, and other QA policies and procedures.
  • Perform HACCP, GMP, & Food Safety audits/ inspections and investigate causes for deviations.
  • Assist in preparation of customer and 3rd party audits.
  • Oversee pre-shipment evaluations and early releases.
  • Monitor and maintain all ‘QA Hold’ activities.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly QA & Production record reviews.
  • Give assistance to the QA Laboratory in conducting environmental and analytic activities.
  • Assist Operation’s Supervisors in the collection and maintenance of daily production records.
  • Interact with USDA inspectors to resolve quality issues.
  • Assist the QA Manager in implementing new QA programs and policies.      
  • Actively support the total compliance of company policies by verifying they are communicated, understood, followed and verified.       This includes safety, quality, GMP’s, work rules, HACCP, SSOP’s,and human resources.

Job Requirements


  • 1-3 years of food QA experience with strong leadership skills.

  • Experience with USDA/FSIS regulations is preferred.

  • HACCP certified or SQF/GFSI experience is preferred.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong PC skills—MS Office (Word, Excel, & Outlook).
