Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Under general supervision is responsible for assisting the Safety Supervisor with the administration of facility safety programs in accordance with established company, federal, state and local requirements.

MAJOR POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct routine plant safety inspections. Schedule and assist with safety meetings and quarterly Corporate Insurance safety inspections.
  • Maintain fire prevention equipment.
  • Assist and document safety incident investigations using prescribed methods and materials as directed.
  • Enter data to record the results of Toolbox Talks and Jobsite Safety Inspections as completed and submitted by members of the Safety Committee.
  • Coordinate monthly Safety Committee meetings by scheduling, notifying participants, distributing agendas and recording the meeting minutes.
  • Compile and collect workplace safety documentation from new hires as part of the orientation process.
  • Maintain and update Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) stations and binders with active and inactive chemical information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Job Requirements

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS

  • Two year college degree in Workplace Safety, Human Resources, or related field or equivalent technical knowledge, analytical ability and communication skills obtained through work experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with facility employees at all levels in English and Spanish.
  • Ability to work successfully as part of a team and independently.
  • Working knowledge of personal computer operations including Windows, word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail and web-based applications.
  • Ability to rarely (less than 15%) lift up to twenty pounds.
